We are very honoured that His Majesty King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands (Royal House of the Netherlands) visited our offshore solar farm at the North Sea, “North Sea Two”,. The Oceans of Energy offshore solar farm system is the first offshore solar system in the world in high waves and it has been at sea for almost 3 years. The system has succesfully survived many winter storms including a once-in-20-years storm with 10 meter high waves. It is the stepping stone for large scale offshore solar, which can multiply the amount of energy generated by offshore wind when combined, and make better use of the sea space. Offshore solar has the potential to provide half of the total Dutch energy demand, using only 5% of the Dutch North Sea, according to our CEO Allard van Hoeken as stated in the below video.
