Job summary

Would you like to help conceive the world’s first floating structure supporting an offshore MW-scale solar farm?

The Certification Engineer has the challenging task to take the Oceans of Energy product from the prototype stage to the stage of a commercial and bankable product. This means that the quality and reliability is tested and proven through technology qualification and/or certification processes and that the various components of the product comply with relevant standards (IEC/DNVGL/BV or equivalent), either existing or new.  

It is your responsibility to lift our engineering processes and document management to a higher standard in line with the requirements of a professional organization. In the future this may also mean certification to certain standards (e.g. ISO 9001).   

You understand industry standards as well as the engineering design process so you can challenge our engineers. Furthermore, you have project management skills and understand change management. 

This position is located at our production facility near Leiden, The Netherlands.

Other responsibilities and tasks

  • Responsible for developing, agreeing upon and implementing quality improvement measures/processes in the broadest sense (design, manufacturing, installation, operation) 
  • Guiding external parties in the design of certain sub-systems / components.

Qualifications and skills

  • Advanced engineering degree (Bsc or Ms)  
  • 8-15 years relevant engineering experience  
  • Experience in design, construction or manufacturing is desirable 
  • Excellent English language skills 
  • Startup mentality: enthusiastic, independent, and getting things done with simple means

About Oceans of Energy

Oceans of Energy BV is young, fast-growing company; we installed the world’s first offshore solar farm and have been operating it in severe offshore conditions. It is our aim to enable the world to generate clean energy from the abundance of space at sea instead of those scarce locations on land.

Our modular offshore solar farm has been operational at sea for almost two years and as we are extending it, we are monitoring it extensively. Meanwhile, we are conducting ecological research to assess the impact, both negative and positive, on nature and marine life.
