Position: Intern – Junior Offshore Installation Engineer
Oceans of Energy is a young company and the first in the world to place solar panels offshore in ocean conditions. This will bring a big positive impact to the world: abundance of clean energy without land space issues. Our goal is to allow all populations near the sea, from small islands to large coastal regions, to generate clean energy using their sea space rather than their scarce land. Our focus is the technological development of offshore solar systems, hand in hand with ecological research to understand the impact as well as the benefits for nature and marine life.
As intern you support the preparations and executions of offshore deployment of our test units. Offshore deployment or offshore installation means that anchors, chains and the floating units are being loaded or towed to the installation site (somewhere at sea) where the anchors are placed on the seabed and the floating unit is connected to the anchors. Afterwards the electrical cable will be connected.
The responsibility of your team is to prepare, plan, subcontract, execute and supervise the offshore / nearshore installation of permanent mooring systems consisting of anchors, mooring lines, and the tow and connection of offshore floating solar platforms.
Qualifications and Qualities:
- Student at a maritime academy or (naval/offshore) engineering
- Ability to use drawing software (such as Sketchup)
- Ability / enthusiasm to be on board of the installation vessels
- Hands on approach
- Able to perform well in a fast-paced and highly challenging environment
