Internship: Embedded Systems Engineer
Summary: Develop a robust motion sensor that connects to a monitoring system and can be integrated in Oceans of Energy’s offshore floaters.
Start: February 2023
Duration: 3-6 months (Can be extended with thesis project)
Location: This position is based at our headquarters near Leiden, the Netherlands. It is reachable by bus from Leiden CS and Den Haag CS (30 min), or by bike from Leiden CS (35 min)
Description:
Oceans of Energy is offering an internship for an Embedded / Electrical / Mechatronics engineering student. The internship is a unique chance to develop a custom product in a challenging and accelerating environment. You will focus on measuring motions and orientations, in order to analyze the behavior of our offshore system. Your work may range from designing and prototyping to upscaling fabrication and implementation.
Qualifications and Qualities:
- HBO/WO engineering student
- PCB design, writing Arduino libraries, knowledge of I2C and SPI protocols, power supply design, CAD
- Ability / enthusiasm to be on board of the installation vessels
- Hands on approach
- Excellent communicator
- Able to perform well in a fast-paced and highly challenging environment
- Living in the Netherlands already and ideally in possession of EU work visa
The Company
Oceans of Energy is a young company and the first in the world to place solar panels offshore in ocean conditions. This will bring a big positive impact to the world: abundance of clean energy without land space issues. Our goal is to allow all populations near the sea, from small islands to large coastal regions, to generate clean energy using their sea space rather than their scarce land. Our focus is the technological development of offshore solar systems, hand in hand with ecological research to understand the impact as well as the benefits for nature and marine life.
